Words for entering silence

Let’s ensure that we are sitting with awareness, as comfortably as we are able, let’s be aware of the space around us, listening to the sounds we can hear and undistracted by any competing thoughts. Let us put down our defences and spend some precious time in this good company in the fellowship of silent prayer.

(after comments by Jerzy Grotowski)

It is as if there are two birds to us the bird that pecks and the bird that soars. The pecking bird is earth bound; nourished by activity and endeavour – by fuss and stress, anxiety, excitement and we never need to look out for that side of our selves its always got plenty to keep it going. There is another side though, who should say a more profound part of the self, some call it the higher self, which is the soaring bird; not sustained by these everyday activities this is the part of ourselves which we must nurture and nourish, which we need to be aware of, to bring into our conscious awareness because otherwise it can perish.

Lets spend a few moments as we join together in silent prayer.
